A third non-foldable Pixel phone has joined the party at Made by Google 2024.
Google confirmed on Tuesday that, on top of the usual Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro phones coming this year, there will also be a Pixel 9 Pro XL. As you might have already inferred, it's a bigger version of the Pixel 9 Pro. That isn't the onlydifference, but it's the main one. It comes in four colors, the same as Pixel 9 Pro: Obsidian, Porcelain, Rose Quartz, and Hazel.

Here are the basic specs, with deviations from the Pixel 9 Pro noted in parentheses:
6.8-inch display (6.3-inch on Pixel 9 Pro)
1344 x 2992 resolution (1280 x 2856 on Pixel 9 Pro)
Tensor G4 chip
16GB RAM
128GB, 256GB, 512GB, 1TB storage options
5060mAh battery (4700mAh on Pixel 9 Pro)
To summarize, these two phones are identical, save for the display and battery size. Their colors are the same, their cameras are the same, everything is the same except one is bigger and lasts longer. What's actually interesting about the Pixel 9 Pro XL is how it compares to last year's models.
Last year, the Pixel 8 had a 6.2-inch display and the Pixel 8 Pro had a 6.7-inch display. That means the 6.3-inch Pixel 9 Pro is actually greatly downsized from the Pixel 8 Pro, while the 6.8-inch Pixel 9 Pro XL is roughly the same size. In actuality, Google didn't make the Pixel 9 Pro XL all that larger; it made the Pixel 9 Pro smaller.
For folks with small hands, it could be a godsend. And for folks who want a bigger display, the Pixel 9 Pro XL is there for you.
In addition to the Pixel 9 Pro XL and Pixel 9 Pro, we also have, of course, our entry-level darling: the Google Pixel 9.
Here are the specs, with gen-over-gen differences noted in parentheses:
6.3-inch display (6.2 inches on Pixel 8)
1080 x 2424 OLED display (1080 x 2400 pixels on Pixel 8)
Tensor G4 chip (Tensor G3 on Pixel 8)
12GB RAM (8GB RAM on Pixel 8)
128GB and 256GB storage options
4700 mAh battery (4575 mAh battery on Pixel 8)
The Pixel 9 starts at $799. The Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL have starting prices of $999 and $1,099, respectively. Pre-orders start today, but the devices will hit store shelves on Aug. 22.
